About

J Ferris was born in 1963 and raised in Gastonia, NC. He grew up listening to artists like Frank Zappa, and touring with bands like the Grateful Dead, and the Other People. J watched the Other People grow as a band, touring all over the southeast and other parts of the country. During this time, he developed his interest in live sound and studio recording.

Fast Forward ten years. J moved to Boone, NC with his new wife, Kyley, and daughter, Marley. In Boone, J met guitarist Ian Reardon, and began recording together on a small digital multitrack recorder. Soon, J became the official sound man and studio engineer for Ian’s band, Wherever It Goes. J has also mastered several of Ian’s solo projects.

It is important to know that from day one, J has been one of the original “band members” in MarsupiaL. The band has always realized that live and studio engineering is as important as any other musical instrument. This has always been one of the core principals in the band’s organization.
